So the worlds falling down around us right?

June 27th, 2009 – 8:04 pm

And I’m on twitter trying to find some people to follow ( I secretly always wanted to be called a follower.)

I’ve had it up for a while but just started really getting into it and it so happens that I decide to do this when a lot of people are dying the famous and the not so famous, revolutions trying to start and all.

If I ever see another f_ing dead body again…Son of a Bi_ch! Son of a f_ing Bi_ch. I don’t know what kind of emotions are tangled up in there but there are a lot.

So I saw. Was directed to pages one should never have the need to go to. I am now convinced that raw footage is a curse upon man. But, I acknowledge the importance of witnessing…

Can you imagine the courage that it must take to stand up and continue standing up in the face of something so vicious? Refering to the Iran situation.

The real world all of a sudden got really real. For real. For real real.

And for documentation purposes this month I have a few studies. There are 2 missing as they haven’t dried enough yet to scan so they will be added later.

I’m trying to figure out how I want to go about outlines, color mixing, addition of pencil. And if I should just stay away from additives. Deciding if I should just abandon black all together and go with chromatic black. Also, how to better control the paint.

The third picture made me decide that I will keep black for grey since I can not achieve the colours I want with chromatic black.

They are all oil on paper. (Permalba White & Black + Maimeri Puro 256 Magenta, 400 Cyan, 116 Primary Yellow) No Medium.

So, as soon as the other two dry I will put them up. I’ve got some furniture painting to do (decorative, a birthday gift) and hope to share it here as well. Hope you’re doing well. Talk to you soon………..-> :b

Waking From My Self Made/Proclaimed Coma…

May 26th, 2009 – 12:21 pm

I’ve been sleeping a lot lately. Too much actually. I’ve been in that place I tend to go to every now and again. That’s why it was a bit silent around here recently.

I’ll try to find an image to post ’cause I hate posts that don’t have,..um well, images ( that was my Austin Powers’ moment: Allow myself to introduce myself..)

Sometimes I feel that I am not doing much of anything but trying to release myself from the tar I’ve fallen into but when I clear my head it becomes apparent that I have. I don’t know if I mentioned this before but when the year began I decided that I would get every journal that I had up to that point and shred the fuckers to non existence.

Some memories belong in trash bags

Some memories belong in trash bags

This was a very cathartic decision on my part. Well at least at that moment it was. I filled up a 30gal bag of bad memories well, mostly bad memories. And I have to say it felt really fucking good. I used to write things in order to remember them. Like taking photographs or something. With out them I am lost or felt lost because I am missing chunks of my life as though I have amnesia or something. Sometimes I feel like a ghost.

I guess I held on to these journals as “proof of existence” in a way. But, it was not fun crashing into bad entries so now I just decided to keep sketch books of nothing but ideas. Things with a future. Plans that will someday (hopefully) will become some creative realization sparked by a thought in my head. That will hopefully mean something to someone else besides myself.

Sketch Book Idea

Sketch Book Idea (it's a "g" just looks like a "q" :)

that became this:

from this post:Abstract Forms 3 & 4

I can’t believe how hard it was to pick a page from a sketch book to share with you. I feel so guarded. And it doesn’t even matter.

I forgot why I was writing all this…

This post was actually supposed to go something like this:

1. Started a new song first one in quite a while. Which was a great starting point in figuring out and   setting up Recording in Linux. (Linux Mint)

2. Learning Blender:

a. Learn how to add title and credits.

b. Totally understand how the video sequencer works.

c. Upload test and progress clips.

3. Took on 2 logo projects, 2 Biz cards and an invitation projects to better understand and work with

Inkscape and Gimp.

a. learned how to vectorize in Inkscape

b. learned how to work with layers in both programs effectively

c. learned that I can use the same fonts on both linux and windows systems

d. learned that I can use my old Photoshop brushes in Gimp and also how to make my own brushes

e. Learned how to install and set up plug ins in both programs.

4. Further Linux Audio work, successfully set up audio and got the following programs to work

a. Ardour (record music)

c. Audacity (record music and fix screencasts)

d. RecordMyDesktop (To record tutorials)

e. Hydrogen (Drum Machine)

5. Been testing Linux Mint 7 (Gloria) and I am in love.

6. Successfully created 2 boot usb drives for the Aspire One. One with WinXP AAO edition and the other with Linux Mint 7 Gloria

7. Learning Scribus so I can release another zine created in it.

8. Editing images for future product lines.

etc. etc. etc.

I’d be surprised if anyone read this far…

So you see, although it seems I haven’t been doing shit. I actually have. Whole lota sleeping my ass. Stop feeling shitty and move on (that was so a note to self)

Well, this is what happens when you throw your journals away and stop journaling and keep a blog instead.

Have a good week. If you fell off get back on.

Abstract Forms 3 & 4

April 22nd, 2009 – 12:35 am

Sorry. I got lost in the atmosphere… but I am back now or so I think. Feel free to wake me up if I’m not. Just don’t pinch to hard ’cause I’m a lady. I couldn’t sleep so I decided to post these:

04/07/09 Abstract Forms #3 Disguises

04/07/09 Abstract Forms #3 Disguises 4x6 Oil on Paper

I really do know how to crop. I really do. Trust.

04/07/09 Aura Emitter 4x6 Oil on Paper

04/07/09 "Aura Emitter" 4x6 Oil on Paper

I will be reworking these in the near future because the sketches have been bugging me about them not “reflecting” the “true nature of their being” so, what can I do?

I recently bought myself an “Acer Aspire One Netbook” I did my research first so I knew it was going to be really good and it is. I have not been able to find a con as of yet (crosses fingers) I think 1GB of Memory with 160GB of HD is great for $322. I can watch whole Netflix movies online without loading or buffer problems. I’ve got Open Office, Gimp and Inkscape set up on it as well as Scribus all which are working great. I found that Inkscape version 0.46-devel works the best because the current version was giving me issues.

I’ve decided as of this time not to use Photoshop and Illustrator anymore it may be just a phase but I really want to support the Open Source community because I believe what they are doing is great.

I plan on dual booting it with WinXP which it has now and the next version of Linux Mint. I have been using version 6 on my desktop and love. Seriously I love it. I do everything on it. I only get on Windows Vista to Play World of Warcraft. Er I mean, so my nephews can play WOW only because I haven’t gotten around to setting it up on Linux. I also love living in a city where virtually every where you go you have free wifi.

Well, this is my first blog post on the little guy. It’s so quiet and the screen is so sharp. I’m gonna kiss it good night and wish it sweet dreams. I hope it remembers it when it’s Maximum Overdrive time:

Damn it! I Missed Our Date!… Or

April 4th, 2009 – 2:20 am
Filed as: , The Little Things

was I fashionably late? The dog ate my homework? No, that doesn’t work… does it? Okay no um what about…I fell into a black hole and was lost in the void and I just got back. I hitched a ride with a rocket ship that was cruising by.

It was great, man, just great the crew showed me how to eat floating m&m’s and how to drink water  clumps.  You know cause when you pour water out there it just gathers together into this chunk of floating water…yeah, good times.

They later told me that they recycle their pee and then it somehow wasn’t that cool any more. Oh my god the sun was so…bright and hot. I mean it is anyway but the closer you get to it the meaner it is. It actually growled at me. No, it actually roared. Yeah it roared. It was that angry looking that if I imagined its “look” it would definitely be a roar, no doubt. No doubt.

So, They decided to take the long way and well, we took a wrong turn at the Milky Way and well I couldn’t make it on time. I tried, they just kept saying something about disintegration if we tried to go any faster. I mean, what could I do. Their the pros you know? Plus they where doing me a favor giving me a ride and all. I didn’t want to seem like I was “biting the hand that feeds me”. I didn’t want to come off as bossy and moody you know. little miss doesn’t know it all.

But, I was thinking about you the whole time I was there. Yeah I was. For sure.

I’ll make it up to you soon if your up to it. I pinky promise.

Abstract Form No.2 & Cherry Cloud Revisited

March 23rd, 2009 – 9:33 pm

I finally got around to doing  abstract forms no.2 Inspection:

Abstract Forms No 2 - Inspection 03/19/09 Oil on Paper

Abstract Forms No 2 - Inspection 03/19/09 Oil on Paper

I’m working on No3 right now.

I also felt like trying Sad Love For The Cherry Cloud again:

Cherry Cloud Revisited - 03/19/09 Oil on Paper

Cherry Cloud Revisited - 03/19/09 Oil on Paper

Please excuse the crappy crop job I didn’t notice it until now, tisk tisk…anyway…

In other news, Stormie Stormerson reports that Kat Bjelland still kicks ass…

I am so in love with this song right now. I can’t stop listening to it. I’m so glad Kat Bjelland didn’t “mellow” or “soften” with time. I think this is from Katastrophy Wife’s 2005 record All Kneel…

Stumbling on the above song got me checking out other stuff from when Kat Bjelland played with Lori Barbero in Babes in Toyland…Ahh memories…

I personally believe, in my humble opinion that Lori Barbero is one of the best drummers ever. Ever. For real. Just listening to the song “Jungle Train” get’s me all excited it’s like listening to a tribal exorcism or something and tell me, who doesn’t like that? I can’t believe that in the whole god forsaken internet I could only find one link that has the song: http://www.tudou.com/programs/view/jTlF58Bu_X4/

I couldn’t find a lot of current info on them online. Which made me sad since I am a super Googler and can find a lot of stuff out there, it’s like they are M.I.A or something. Then again it could just be me. And maybe I’m a sucky Googler. Who knows?  I just hope they’re well and still making music.

This is Stormie Stormerson reporting, back to you Cougar Monsoon AKA Me…

Well I hope you liked the paintings and the videos. And remember folks, it can always be worse so make the best of it. See you here next week. Is it a date? It’s a date.

Yes, I’m Happy To See You…

Sometimes The Sun Shines Too Bright For Me

March 11th, 2009 – 11:13 am
Sometimes The Sun Shines Too Bright For Me

Sometimes The Sun Shines Too Bright For Me - 02/29/09

Sometimes the sun shines too bright for me. And when it shines on me it burns me. Like the way you burn me with your accidental affections those accidental intentions,  so mysterious, ingenious your trickery. I like the way you twist my words until I end up apologising for the things I never said or never meant to say. But I will beg and I will plead because you made me believe you are what I need…
